Bingara Boil Water Alert Lifted

Published on 23 December 2021

Gwydir Shire Council advises that the boil water alert issued on Wednesday 8 December 2021 has been lifted and the water supply is now safe to drink.

This action has been taken following consultation with NSW Health, Hunter New England Local Health District and Department of Primary Industry & Environment - Water.

The boil water alert was issued due to the runoff into the Gwydir River that caused problems for water treatment, making drinking water in Bingara potentially unsafe.

Gwydir Shire Council have resolved the issue and water testing results over the past 3 days have indicated the water treatment process is under control and the water is now safe to drink.

Council is committed to drinking water quality management and will continue to test and monitor water supplies and inform the community if water quality parameter can not be maintained.
