Water Usage and Restrictions

Level 1 Water Restrictions – Bingara, Gravesend and North Star Water Supplies

Despite substantial rainfall over the last few months, the Gwydir Shire Council have made a commitment to the continuous conservation of water.

Water restrictions will now remain in place until further notice, with the use of sprinklers prohibited between 10am and 5pm. Hand held Hoses are permitted for watering pot plants at all times.

Reason: Despite recent rainfalls, the drought is far from over with 99.4 per cent of NSW still in drought and about one-third in the highest category - "intense drought". Furthermore, a continuous commitment to the conservation of water is good practice to ensure future water supplies for our region.

Level 3 Water Restrictions - Warialda Water Supply

Tuesday 7 October 2025

Residents are advised that Level 3 Water Restrictions are in place due to Council’s reduced capacity to pump water and current weather conditions generating an increased demand for water usage.

Fixed sprinklers may only be used between 8:00pm and 10:00pm on an odds and evens system.

Even street numbered houses may use their sprinklers from 8:00pm to 10:00pm Monday and Wednesday.

Odd street numbered houses may use their sprinklers from 8:00pm to 10:00pm Thursday and Saturday.

This trial will be reviewed weekly.

Use of handheld hoses is permitted by residents in Warialda at any time of the day, however the most effective use is after 8:00pm and before 10:00am.

Council thanks you for your support and understanding during this time, especially given the continuing heat conditions.
