Gwydir Shire Council is seeking a motivated and proactive Growth and Development Officer to help shape the future of our region through housing, investment and economic development initiatives.

This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of projects that directly contributes to the long-term sustainability and prosperity of the Gwydir Shire community.

This role has a strong focus on:

  • Increasing housing supply across the Shire
  • Progressing development opportunities on Council-owned land
  • Attracting investment, business and industry to the region
  • Facilitating practical development outcomes that support long-term community sustainability

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead projects from concept through to delivery
  • Coordinate internal and external stakeholders to maintain momentum and achieve outcomes
  • Identify and remove barriers to development
  • Build strong working relationships with developers, investors, government agencies, businesses and community stakeholders
  • Pursue funding opportunities and strategic partnerships
  • Prepare reports, business cases and strategic briefings to support informed decision-making

A key requirement of the role is strong project management capability, including the ability to take an idea, initiative or opportunity and successfully progress it through planning, coordination and implementation phases to delivery.

Council welcomes applicants from a variety of professional backgrounds including:

  • Business development
  • Planning or infrastructure
  • Or related fields with transferable experience and capability

Qualifications in business, economics, property, planning, project management or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
